Following the success of the Great War Roadshow at our festival in 2014, we are delighted to welcome a new musical show written by RTE’s broadcaster and historian Myles Dungan. The Count, Countess and Tommy features popular songs and stories from the Ireland of the Rising era, centering on the life and works of the celebrated Irish tenor John, Count McCormack.
The show stars international singing sensations Lisa Lambe and Matthew Gilsenan, baritone Brendan MacQuaile and pianist Ronan Murray.
"I heartily recommend The Count, the Countess and the Tommy, which played to a really appreciative audience in Kilkenny in May 2016, coinciding with MacDonagh Week, honouring and remembering Thomas MacDonagh.
The show was engaging from the start, and the audience were treated to music, song and theatrical magic from a cast of professionals who entertained start to finish. Lisa Lambe was terrific and the audience in the Kilkenny Watergate Theatre really enjoyed the show."
